TILT has been designed to be an easy to use system to record clinical learning. At the simplest level it acts as a personal learning log which can be used – in the UK at least – for appraisal purposes. Every time you experience some learning, type a quick summary of the learning – it’s that easy. However, we believe that sharing this learning makes the site much more powerful. You can learn from colleagues and they can learn from you – so it’s ground-up learning not top-down! We even make it super easy to add learning from another person into your own learning log!
Key features of TILT
Easily create your own learning log. Optional extra include a reflective tool and the ability to add structure (making it easy to browse learning).
Follow. The ability to follow other users you find interesting at the push of a button. You can then see what they’re learning and, if you learn from it, easily add it to your own record of learning.
Agreement. As well as learning from someone else’s TILT you can indicate that you agree with it (validating that person’s learning) or you can disagree. In the latter case we hope you offer some constructive feedback and support.
Search. A powerful search tool to help locate specific TILTs.
Learning needs. The ability to highlight a learning need. This can be shared with your TILT community – surely someone can help!
Other learning. A separate section to record other types of learning. TILTs are designed to be short summaries of learning. However, you may want to record other types of learning for appraisal e.g. that you attended a conference, undertook an audit etc.
Privacy. You control who sees your TILTs and who doesn’t. While we want you to share you can make them all private if you wish.
Groups. In our pilot there was a real desire to set-up groups. These might be based on organisations (e.g. a general practice, PCT), special interests (e.g. prostate cancer specialists) or class based (e.g. all students in a particular class). Groups allow you to create a separate area to highlight TILTs. If you just want to share a particular TILT with your organisation, it’s simple.
Export. We have created a powerful tool to make it as easy as possible to export your learning as a PDF.
